If you're interested in creating rich media or videos to use in your Moodle course, here are some tips and links to helpful online resources:
1. Multimedia in Moodle:
Using H5P in Moodle to create Interactive content and activities
VCC's Moodle LMS includes a free suite of multimedia activity tools called H5P. H5P is a free, open-source software project driven by a large online community. H5P makes it easier for VCC Moodle users to create rich interactive content. Using H5P, authors may create and edit interactive videos, presentations, games, advertisements and more.

2. Tools for Screencasting and Video Editing:
Camtasia Studio
We often recommend Camtasia Studio as a good all-around tool for creating videos or screencasts. It is one of the more cost-effective screen-capture/editor suites on the market (comparable to more expensive solutions like Adobe Captivate).
TechSmith (the makers of Camtasia) have an extensive series of tutorials for new users - mostly as videos.

PROS: Mac and PC editions available. Full-featured (grows along with your capabilities/needs).
CONS: Costs a bit and only usable on the system you've installed it on.
Screencast-o-matic
A free web-based screencasting tool that's pretty simple and easy to use. If budget or speed is an issue, and you won't need to do much video editing, this may be the best solution (and a good place to begin exploring how to screencast right away).
PROS: Web-based, platform-agnostic. Free and fast.
CONS: Basic, with fewer editing features than commercial software applications, and a bit less intuitive in some aspects.
(Note: The free version puts a "Screencast-o-matic" watermark in the corner of your published videos.)
