KB1245 - How to archive a Moodle Course

If you are the OWNER of a Moodle course that is ready to be archived, let us know and we'll do it for you. PLEASE NOTE that this removes access to the course from all users, but keeps a "zipped" copy FOR ONE YEAR. If you later require access to this course, send a request to elsupport@vcc.ca and we will restore it for you. This should be a rare occurance. Please do not request archiving of a course that you believe you will likely need to access again.

To request a course to be archived, simply add the word ARCHIVE (ALL CAPS, please) at the beginning of the course name (on the Course Settings page) and we will archive it when we do our next cleanup, which usually happens every couple of weeks.

To request that your course shell be ARCHIVED for ONE year:

Add the word ARCHIVE before your course name.

So, for example, if your course is...

  • ABCD 1234 - Introduction to Something Amazing

change the Course full name to...

  • ARCHIVE ABCD 1234 - Introduction to Something Amazing
