This article will help you to integrate Electude elearning content into your VCC Moodle course. Electude creates e-learning solutions for light vehicles, heavy vehicles and systems technologies.
By creating an LTI connection, you can make it easy for your Moodle students to access your courseware on other web services with just one click, without logging in. This makes it easy for your Students to access your Electude course content from inside your Moodle course.
About Electude
This brief video describes Electude's learning philosophy:
Adding an Electude LTI External Tool
There are two preconfigured Electude LTI tools available in VCC Moodle:
- "Electude LV LTI"
An LTI connection for VCC's "Auto Technician" (Light Vehicle) programs.
- "Electude HV LTI"
An LTI connection for VCC's "Heavy Duty/Comm Transport" (Heavy Vehicle) programs.
Allowing LTI Tools for your course
Before a preconfigured LTI Tool can be added as an activity in a Moodle course, the tool must be allowed to be used in the course's Activity Chooser. Course Teachers or Managers can do this by selecting "More > LTI Tools" at the top of the course and enabling one of the Electude Tools in the list.

After that, the enabled tool(s) will be available for selection in the course's Activity Chooser.
Adding the Tool as an Activity
Make sure you select the correct tool for your course: Each tool leads to different Electude content that's specific to either VCC's heavy duty or auto technician programs.
-
In the section where you want the activity to be added, select the (+) icon, and select "activity or resource" to open the Activity Chooser.
-
In the Activity Chooser, add one of the Electude LTI external tools as a new Activity:

-
In the "New External Tool" screen, you can do one of two actions, depending upon your goal:

In the "New External Tool" screen (above), you can do one of two actions, depending upon your goal:
-
For a general link into the Electude course, add a name to the "Activity name" field, and then click "Save"
-
For a deep link that goes directly into a specific Electude lesson or quiz, click "Select content" and navigate into the Electude lesson or quiz that you want to lead your Students to. (The name of the selected content will automatically be populated into the "Activity name" field in this case.)
Graded Items
Quizzes that you select will show up as activities in the Moodle course Gradebook. Student scores earned inside Electude activities will be automatically transferred to Moodle's Gradebook in real-time as the Student completes each activity.
Testing as a Student
You can do *some* Student-like testing of Electude using Moodle's "Switch role to" feature, but using the "DemoStudent" block is the most realistic way to get a Student-like view of your Electude activities and quizzes before letting Students use them. (It's always best to test your activities by submitting and completing them as a DemoStudent first.)
Note: eLSupport can assist you with integrating this external content into your Moodle courses, but we cannot help you learn how to use this platform's content management system to create or manage your content. Please consult the platform's documentation and technical support, or your Electude customer service contact.
